AnasaziSleeperTrail

14X20 Watercolor on Paper

This isn't Kansas
anymore

and I didn't realize
at the time
that the house of rain
somehow could
with the right
slant of the sun
the summer solstice
through aligned stones
warmed by a heat they did not create
across this line of sight and
these clouds sliding
across the skin
it feels like
just a few cells
before
they actually touch me
counting the minutes
between the thunder
and the lightning.

What is it about the sun
shinning through the rain
and where did all the color come from?
when I thought rain was grey

And the Anasazi wash
oh it's a gutter alright
a gutter like a summer
thunder storm
and the rain so cool
I'm a boy in a bathing suit
and the warm rain
is rushing across
summer lawns into the gutter
rushing through my
butt crack
because I'm sitting
here in the gutter
in the summer rain
sailing a paper boat
to somewhere
I have never known.

An ancient trail through colors of dreams, passion, tranquil joy.
Remembrance, this moment & the unknown to come,
I feel it in my heart & on my skin reading yr words,
delightfully captured in the moments between
thunder & lightening.. let it rain!

you shine so bright Doug,
thank you.

Hi Tara and Thank You!

Ah Mary Thank you sooo much!
Well I already knew this about you and I’m only a tiny-weenie bit surprised to find that Tara is another who likewise doesn’t know when to get out of the rain. Another fool playing in the water while the lightning is striking!
But perhaps the bigger fool is the one who goes inside out of the rain and then looks through the window thinking that it looks like fun out there?

In Oregon, the rain is decidedly gray
cold, and collects in puddles
with gooey mud lining the bottom
making a mess of my open toed shoes
the color comes from the choice of words I use

Just beautiful, from the water color to the end, and yes, thanks for this too:

Doug, maybe it’s more a matter of risk assessment than of not knowing ;-)

Being foolhardy: Not being smart enough to evaluate the risk involved in a given venture & thus doing it. Or being smart enough to evaluate the risk involved in a given venture & doing it anyway.

Yeah Janie it can be, especially when it’s clouded over but clarity does come and then the sun comes out and there is a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow ;-)

Hey Pearly! Well I can think of a few worse things to step in with open toed shoes! Are you sure that’s mud tween your toes? Lol!

Hi Praveer and Thank you! Ah yes the lightning!

Ah Tara yes I already know how artfully you feng shui. So value versus risk?
High value, high risk ??? Maybe, maybe not
High value, minimal risk.. In a heartbeat!

Such a Poetry as this is a landscape.  I like the authenticity of the composition; how fluid it reads.

Peace~
